| John J. Rigo of McKinney, Texas started writing poetry in 1985. In 2001 he won first place in the adult division of the Collin County Annual Poetry Writing Contest. In 2004 he was invited to attend as a honored guest poet to an international poetry meeting in Macedonia (formerly Czechoslovakia). Mr. Rigo's work is displayed in their annual poetry publication. In 2005 Mr. Rigo had two poetry books published. In a recent book publication listing two hundred newly recognized poets in the U.S., Mr. Rigo's work was added. At no-fee, Mr. Rigo will do up to an hour word presentation of his poetry work for any non-profit in the Henderson, Kaufman and Collin county areas of Texas. This must be done on a reservation basis for an afternoon or evening engagement. The only agreement requested on Mr. Rigo's part is that a portion of the donations or collections for the performance be rendered in part to assist the homeless of these counties.
